Trump Just Lost a MAJOR Endorsement to Ron DeSantis and Prepare for Trump to Explode in 3, 2, 1…

Florida’s largest police union has parted ways with former President Donald Trump whom it backed in 2020 and is now endorsing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The New York Post reports that John Kazanjian, president of the Florida Police Benevolent Association credits DeSantis as the “most effective governor in the nation” and as someone who “will make public safety a top priority in the White House. Kazanjian announced this in a press release.

“Now more than ever, Americans must elect the one candidate for president who has a proven track record in enhancing public safety and investing in the essential men and women who help maintain public safety every day,” Kazanjian said in a statement.

Yeah, he did a really bang-up job on public safety when it comes to COVID. He did such a great job in fact, that he earned the nickname “DeathSantis.” Trump’s record on COVID was also less than stellar, but this story from The Hill underscores what DeSantis did, and didn’t do in regard to the pandemic.

But I digress. Kazanjian has more praises to sing for DeSantis:

“For the over 30,000 men and women in the Florida Police Benevolent Association, the choice for us could not be clearer. Governor Ron DeSantis and his administration have made Florida a law-and-order state, by investing and supporting the thousands of law enforcement officers, who serve on the front lines in keeping our communities safe and secure,” he said.

While the Florida Police Benevolent Association endorsed Trump in 2020, it hadn’t backed a presidential candidate in the eight years before the election.

Kazanjian said that the association backed Trump at the time due to “the existential threats to the safety of our members, the future of our families, and the security of our communities.”

But on Monday, he lauded DeSantis’s tough-on-crime approach in the state and praised him for “investing over $100 million dollars to increase the salaries of state law enforcement officers, and “recruiting the best men and women across the country to join our ranks.” He also praised the governor’s support of local law enforcement agencies fighting the fentanyl epidemic.

“Governor DeSantis has made Florida a destination for all Americans to live safely and freely (unless they are transgender Americans). He is one of the most effective Governors in the nation and he will take his proven track record to the White House, where he will continue to have the backs of law enforcement officers and make public safety a top priority. For these reasons, the Florida PBA is proud to endorse our Governor, Ron DeSantis, for President of the United States and we will do all that we can to help him prevail,” Kazanjian said.

While Kazanjian touted DeSantis’s public safety record, he said nothing about DeSantis’s attempts to ban books, his attempts to ban the teaching of critical race theory, and his obvious dislike of people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Yes, public safety should be a concern and it’s understandable that the PBA would support this. But that public safety should also include people who are in the LGBTQ+ community and people of color, who have the right to learn their history. Something that DeSantis is trying to ban.

If he becomes president, the U.S. won’t be a safe place for gay or trans people or for people of color because of folks who won’t have the chance to understand history. And we’ve seen the recent stunts he’s pulled with immigrants, so they won’t be safe either.

Really, this man is not any better than Donald Trump. If anything, he’s worse.
