After his epic meltdown this weekend Donald Trump is in even more trouble than he was before. And his team has in a likely futile attempt to do damage control pulled out the biggest gun they’ve got:

Melania.

And the spin machine is already running, Queerty reports. Beginning with a puff piece from Page Six that was stuffed with quotes from an unnamed Trump insider that describes her as her husband’s rock during a “hellish” time in his life.

Last week was definitely a stressful one for the former president. He was charged with one count of conspiracy to violate rights and one count of conspiracy to defraud the government. He was also charged with one count each of obstructing an official proceeding and conspiring to do so in connection to his alleged efforts to overthrow the 2020 election.

And every one of these counts carries a potentially heavy prison sentence, ranging between five and 20 years. Obviously, this means there’s the possibility Trump may spend the rest of his life in prison.

Then, of course, there’s the state charges he faces in New York in connection to the Stormy Daniels hush money case and additional federal charges in Florida that are related to the classified documents case.

Are we having fun yet?

The unnamed source, speaking to Page Six, laid things on a little thick. Trump puts on a “tough front” as his legal troubles grow, but deep down he’s a softie (yeah right), and “these constant legal assaults are affecting his day-to-day life.”

So here comes Melania to make things all better. Now we all know Melania is private and never speaks, and yet this ridiculous article, in the conservative rag NY Post, suddenly appears making her look like the dutiful wife?

“Melania’s even better than his regular golf games at keeping his temper in check,” the source says. “She provides a peaceful life for him when he needs it.”

And the source noted there’s plenty of peaceful time together.

“The couple and their son [Barron] have breakfast and dinner together regularly at their residence at his Bedminster golf club. [Melania] literally turns the news off at times so they can watch something else together, and she frowns over the telephone or social media use at the table. Melania keeps him on track as a father and has in many ways stepped up to fill the place Ivanka [Trump] and Jared [Kushner] once had.

The source added an extra touch of gushiness:

“She is his most intimate and internal sounding board. She is his secret weapon to staying grounded.”

So…Trump, who at 77 has long been a grown man, can’t do this for himself? Like he is supposed to do?

But then he’s always acted infantile. We basically had an aging baby for a president.

Plus, there’s no evidence that Melania is keeping his “temper in check.” After all, he wrote a threatening, shouty message on Truth Social, vowing to “get revenge on people who go after him.”

“IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”

Sure doesn’t seem to me like his temper is in check.

This alarmed special counsel Jack Smith enough that he quickly flagged it in a late-night court filing. He noted it could have “a harmful chilling effect on witnesses or adversely affect the fair administration of justice in this case” and he requested a protective order be issued to limit the information Trump is allowed to share about the case.

I’m going to conclude that it isn’t Melania’s job to keep him under control. Or if it is, it shouldn’t be. And while she might be his “rock” he’s still throwing out sparks like a busted chainsaw. So maybe Melania’s efforts aren’t working as well as Trump’s handlers would like everyone to think.
