Trump Was Reportedly ‘Unhinged’ and ‘Terrifying’ During His Final Days in Office

British filmmaker Alex Holder, who interviewed Donald Trump on the evening before the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, has opened up about the ex-president’s “unhinged” behavior during this time.

Holder documented the days leading up to the Jan. 6 insurrection and the fallout for Unprecedented, a documentary about the last months of Trump’s presidency, The Independent reports. The film was released a year or so ago, well before the Department of Justice subpoenaed Holder for any raw footage related to the movie.

Holder was on hand Saturday for an appearance on CNN’s Newsroom, where he was interviewed by host Jim Acosta. The filmmaker discussed Trump’s state of mind during the interviews recorded right before a mob of roughly 2,000 rioters descended on the Capitol, creating chaos and fully intending to prevent Joe Biden’s rightful transition to power.

“To be honest, [he was] unhinged, terrifying,” Holder said. “he’s a very unusual man … He has one singular ideology, which is Donald Trump, right? I mean, nothing else matters.”

Holder also talked about just how afraid Trump’s own staff was whenever he spoke his mind.

“He sort of look[ed] sideways saying some of the most controversial things he was saying and he looks at one of his assistants. But they were all terrified of him,” Holder told Acosta. “So it is a really strange dynamic. It wasn’t a respect toward the president. It was sheer fear. It was just a really unusual situation around him.”

“Seeing him at Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster, he is a very dangerous person that needs constant adoration from all the people around him,” Holder recounted.

The documentarian also said that Trump allegedly told him that the reason he didn’t win the 2020 election was because officials in Georgia “were not brave enough and [too] stupid to listen to him.”

Sounds like Trump. He frequently uses crayon words and sounds like the bully in the playground.

Of course, now that Trump and 18 of his allies were indicted in Georgia last week for allegedly trying to thwart the 2020 election, he may be reflecting on his past words. I don’t think Trump is capable of self-reflection, but who really knows?

Trump is still leading in the polls conducted for the GOP primaries. It’s believed he will surrender himself to the Fulton County jail either Thursday or Friday, according to CNN.

All I can say is while the wheels of justice move slowly, at least they are finally moving.
