When The Wall Street Journal outed her brief fling with Donald Trump, Stormy Daniels found her life turned upside down. The aforementioned fling, which happened in 2006 and was revealed in 2018 led to Daniels being paid $130,000 in “hush money,” to keep quiet, but there’s a world full of intrepid journalists whose very careers depend on uncovering what the rich and the powerful don’t want the rest of us to know. Thus, Daniels found herself in the spotlight whether she wanted it or not.

But she is, in many ways a remarkable woman, and she thrived in the spotlight. Trump, who constantly seeks the spotlight, didn’t exactly thrive but he was everywhere we didn’t want him to be. He was on 24/7 and still is even though he’s been out of office for years. Now the former president is facing a 34-count federal criminal indictment in New York in connection with the aforementioned hush money. He is charged with falsifying business records and the case is expected to be the first of his criminal cases to go to trial. But legal experts believe it’s going to be the weakest among the cases against him.

And all of this for a brief fling that Daniels says was the “worst 90-seconds” of her life. Now something good is going to come out of it—in the form of a documentary that will stream on the Peacock network.

Stormy is directed and produced by Emmy nominee Sarah Gibson (Orgasm inc: The Story of OneTaste). Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears) serves as executive producer, along with Judd Apatow, Sara Bernstein, and Meredith Kaulfers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Peacock’s description for the documentary reads:

The 2018 revelation from the Wall Street Journal resulted in Daniels filing a lawsuit against Trump, claiming that the non-disclosure agreement she had signed in reference to the alleged affair was invalid. Trump continued to deny the allegations and accused Daniels of lying, leading her to file a second lawsuit against him on libel charges. However, that suit was dismissed. In August 2018, Michael Cohen reached a plea deal with prosecutors regarding his involvement in silencing Daniels.

Daniels did, indeed become an icon. This wasn’t likely what she was looking for, but that one disappointing f*ck may help topple someone who was perhaps the most corrupt president in U.S. history. For that, we should be forever thankful.
