Trump Just Humiliated and Emasculated Tim Scott and People Actually Feel Sorry for Scott Because His Fealty to Trump Is Just So Pathetic
Okay, seriously.
Donald Trump is nothing if not a jokester. Or at least, he thinks he is. His jokes are terrible. And nobody could think that more right now than Senator Tim Scott.
Scott, the first Black Republican Senator in 45 years (and one of only four in history, the first two being in the 19th century), also ran for president in this year’s primary.
Trump had some things to say about that. But not until after he’d praised him and indicated that the South Carolina Senator had made the shortlist to be his running mate.
During a Q&A, Trump was asked what kinds of things he was looking for in a VP pick, and not only was he quick with an answer, but he was quick to turn to Scott:
[T]he first quality has to be somebody that you think will be a good president, because if something should happen, you have to have somebody that’s going to be a great president.

A lot of people are talking about that gentleman right over there, and he’s been so great. He’s been such a great advocate. I have to say, I don’t, this is in a very positive way: Tim Scott, he has been much better for me than he was for himself. I watched his campaign and he doesn’t like talking about himself, but boy does he talk about Trump. And I said, you know, I called him. I said, “Tim, you’re better for me than you were for yourself.”
It’s not the first time Trump has delivered a backhanded compliment to Senator Scott.
At an event in New Hampshire in January, as Trump was introducing, the former president alluded to the rumors that Scott was gay, saying “Today it was a big story, the biggest story out there: He’s engaged to be married. We never thought this was going to happen. What’s going on?”
Then, after his victory speech in the NH primary, Trump made sure his audience knew that Scott had turned on the governor who appointed him, Nikki Haley. Haley is the last candidate still running against Trump in the primary. “Did you ever think that she actually appointed you, Tim? And think of it. Appointed and you’re the senator of her state. And you endorsed me. You must really hate her. Nah. It’s a shame.”
What did Senator Scott have to say?
“I just love YOU.”
Look at this from the Fox News town hall and tell me it’s not the most cringeworthy thing you’ve ever seen:

Many people felt bad for Scott:
Trump routinely humiliates Tim Scott in public! Tim relishes the humiliation much more than Trump does, and Trump finds it enjoyable! That is the most dehumanizing thing I have ever seen. Tim should know better as a Black man. pic.twitter.com/krFM2OI7mk

Tim get some self respect ffs.

I wonder if this could be more cringey. When he chooses Noem as his VP stoogie, Trump will tell Scott that he'll be sec'y of state in a new admin, and Scott will keep believing it and keep smiling.

And of course some didn’t feel badly for Scott at all:
The thing about joining the Church of Trump is that even after you promise full loyalty he will still make sure that you are publicly neutered and humiliated.
Tim Scott deserves every bit of this. https://t.co/NHPFhSLPrI

The insidious legacy of Racism is an impediment to black progress. This could not be illustrated more than by Tim Scott’s antics during his endorsement of Donald Trump. Scott illustrates that the hideous disease of low self esteem is still pervasive and quite frankly sad! pic.twitter.com/McP3q4FWAW

I wonder what it’s like to live in Trump’s colon?
