Three North Carolina Businesses Forced to Close for the Day to ‘Deep Clean’ After Ivanka Trump Visit

A trio of businesses in Belmont, North Carolina closed up clam-tight Friday to do some deep-cleaning after being visited by Ivanka Trump the day before, Insider reports. This is understandable since President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are dealing with COVID-19, as are several members of Trump’s administration and others within his political circle.

It also makes sense since several members of his family have regularly appeared without masks at political functions. Each of the businesses Trump visited — Cherubs Café, Cotton Candy Factory, and Bliss Gallery, are operated by the local nonprofit organization Holy Angels, which helps people with disabilities, The Charlotte Business Journal reports.

While Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner tested negative Friday, the businesses don’t want to take any chances after her Thursday visit.

“As a precaution, we will be performing a deep cleaning of Cherubs Café, Cotton Candy Factory, and Bliss Gallery today” Cherubs Café noted on Facebook. “While our protocols have always exceeded the CDC guidelines, we want to ensure the safety of our employees and customers.”

The establishments were open for business again Saturday.

“Please know that it is not required for us to close and conduct this deep cleaning. However, at Holy Angels, we take these things seriously,” per the Facebook post. “When we reopen on Saturday, rest assured that we have done our very best to protect our loyal customers and our dedicated employees.”

It’s nice to know that this organization, which is dedicated to helping disabled people, takes the coronavirus pandemic seriously enough to act responsibly, especially since the Trump family clearly has not. Nearly 216,000 Americans have died in this pandemic, largely due to President Donald Trump’s poor handling of this crisis. He’s advocated doing weird things like injecting bleach and using unproven cures like hydroxychloroquine which has made his presidency seem like one very long infomercial. One that we hope is ending soon.
