Melania Trump Has Spent the Past 100 Days Since Leaving the White House Doing the Same Thing
While her husband eyes a potential third run for president, Melania Trump has been quite happy to avoid politics now that she’s no longer in the White House, Business Insider notes. She hasn’t made any public appearances and has even kept a low profile at Mar-a-Lago, CNN reported Wednesday.
“She’s not a presence at Mar-a-Lago at all,” said one source close to the Trump family. “She’s not mingling with people and rarely interacts with her husband’s staff.”
I can’t help but imagine that if former President Donald Trump runs for a third term, Melania will likely be upset. She’s happy to be out of the White House and is quite obviously a private sort who prefers to keep to herself. Something she couldn’t do as the first lady. She spends her days with Barron, the couple’s 15-year-old son, and her parents, who sometimes while away the weeks in their own personal suite at the resort. And as I’ve written before, Melania also spends plenty of quiet time at the spa inside Mar-a-Lago.
Trump, however, has been busy, hosting extravagant dinners and fundraisers for Republican groups and his cronies at the club.

And sources close to the family told CNN that Melania appears “happy and relaxed” on the rare occasions when they see her at dinner, noting she even smiles and waves at guests when she arrives to join her husband for dinner. Melania has long made it known that she was more than ready to head for home, and as early as December was plotting out her future.
“She just wants to go home,” one source said at the time.
CNN also reported in January that the former first lady was searching for office space in Florida so that her “Be Best” campaign could go forward. She has also set up an office at Mar-a-Lago, but little has come of that, other than a fanciful logo that rather resembles a presidential seal. She also hasn’t announced plans to write a memoir, something that former first ladies typically do once their days at the White House are over.
But Melania was rarely a typical first lady. She gained the reputation of being rather chilly and diffident. She also sometimes exemplified some of her husband’s worst traits, including his “birtherism” and racism.
So I’m not upset to see this woman is out of the limelight. Quite obviously she knows it doesn’t suit her.
